About

I am a photographer and woodcrafter living in central Virginia.

I grew up on a small farm in Madison, Virginia surrounded by forests, rivers, and mountains.  I owe my appreciation for the beauty of nature largely to this area and my countless adventures there.

I attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where I earned a BS in Environmental Science, while also studying photography.  It was there that I realized my passion for image-making.

I have displayed images in shows at the Goodyear Gallery in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and Grassroots Yoga in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  I worked as a professional photographer in Jackson, Wyoming and later as a photographer and journalist with Gallup Sun.  I have collaborated with individuals on many projects, including photography for the book A Rider’s Reader: Exploring Horse Sense, Science, and Sentiment, as well as photographing the art of Linda Bowlby and the furniture of Blasie Gaston.  I also did extensive photography and design work for Hasbídító, a Navajo nonprofit in New Mexico. In 2018, I worked to document education programs in Glacier National Park and also created a video about Dirt Rich Compost to educate students.

I have long been fascinated by the wonders of trees, and a forest is one of my favorite places to be. Working with wood is a way to honor the life of the tree and bring beauty into our lives through functional objects. I enjoy harvesting my own wood when possible and discovering the quirks and charms of each piece as I shape it. These days, laying my hands on a wood project is a much needed respite from the digital world. There is a unique satisfaction in completing a piece that keeps me coming back for more.

I currently reside in central Virginia, where I continue to work on personal and collaborative photographic and woodcraft projects.
